Solar Community Brainstorming

I'm thinking about which solar fun project I will do next. The thought occurred that I should gather feedback from the viewers of my blog. If you have some unique and intriguing idea, respond with a comment or email me at bob@alterra-wv.com.
If I see something of interest, I might generate an engineered schematic for the archive or even build it for display.
Thanks in advance.

  1. Well, my mind runs to ways of automating things around the house - not glamorous maybe, but:

    1) running the cooling fan in the run in shed (mostly needed when the sun is full)

    2) creating running water for the horses by circulating pond water through a raceway with a reservoir

    3) using that same raceway to provide optional irrigation to the garden

  2. I'll take these under advisement. We need to consider freezing and summer grass mowing if water system is just run on the ground.
The fan however needs no maintenance considerations.
    When's your birthday?

  3. Just one more thing... the water deal reminds me of the idea of tiny trailer mounting of a solar pump/ irrigation unit. You could park it on the far side of the pond for the upper pasture. Then put away for winter.

  4. Birthday is just a bit past Winter Solstice, allowing lots of time to work out the kinks before we'll want the fan to run :-)
